~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ UPDATE, MARCH 21st
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Running Start's Young Women to Watch Awards were a huge success. Rachel participated in a raucous performance of "Siddown John" from 1776 by an all-female cast of local DC singers, which kicked off the formal programming of the evening. Director Jenny Leon was given a Changing the Face of Politics Award for her work creating and coordinating the piece.

Congratulations to Jenny and all the wonderful women honored at the event!

Thanks to Running Start for the beautiful photos from the evening! Rachel is on the top balcony, fourth from the right.

Rachel is excited to be performing a number from the musical 1776 with a group of DC singers for the 11th Annual Young Women to Watch Awards. Held at the National Museum for Women in the Arts, this event celebrates young women engaged in the political process. It is hosted by Running Start, an organization that works to "inspire and train the next generation of young women political leaders."

As described on their website:

"Running Start’s 11th Annual Young Women to Watch Awards will honor the youngest women in politics! The annual awards dinner also provides programmatic training to 3 of Running Start’s most impressive alums, selected after competing in a nationwide contest to spread the word that every young woman should be able to say #ILookLikeAPolitician.

The Young Women to Watch Awards draws about 400 of Washington, DC’s political elite as guests and about 75% of of the women in Congress join the Congressional Host Committee. The Awards are hosted in the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC, and we think it was the best party on Capitol Hill!"
